Opinion Line (Nov. 1)

The biggest race this fall is which will occur first – the elections or the failure of the mute and fast-forward buttons on my TV remote.

It seems really dumb to support a “yes” vote on the 1-cent sales tax issue because “visitors will have to pay.” They’re here and gone, while we’ll be paying the increase 365 days a year.

We have seen a deplorable side of our political system with the win-at-all-cost ads this year. A new low came with the ad claiming Paul Davis wants to keep people down and out. Let’s have honest, civil campaigns, so those who win can truly be positive leaders for our country.

So why haven’t I seen a TV ad from Gov. Sam Brownback condemning the “liberal” judges on the state Supreme Court for vacating the sentence of Scott Roeder, the man who assassinated George Tiller?

Instead of voting out all the appellate judges who overturn improper sentences from the trial court, a different solution might be to get rid of local judges who can’t follow the law in the first place. Sam Brownback hasn’t suggested that, since most of those local judges are Republicans.

All Christians: Please vote for Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts. They will fight for us. Obamacare wasn’t formed to care for us but to control us. We do not want to play into the Democrats’ hands.

Poor people have been voting Democratic for 50 years, and they’re still poor.

You can drink the sweetened Kool-Aid, which ultimately will do you harm, or you can drink tea, which is good for you. Remember that on Election Day.

Be afraid! Be very afraid! Vote Republican!

Republicans still want to keep as much money as they can by holding down taxes, and Democrats still want to use taxes to spread the money out into society. So when are we going to change the tax system to solve this problem?

I understand the tragedy at Mid-Continent Airport, but was it necessary for all three local television stations to have continuous coverage for hours, rehashing the same information over and over and over?

Hey, you – yes, you walking your big dog past our neighborhood school. I watched you ignore the big pile of feces your dog left, right where the students get on and off their bus. How disgusting.

I meet the most wonderful people at garage sales. Of course, it might be because I don’t trample their grass, leave a mess looking at things, try to pay for a 25-cent item with a $20 bill, or let my kids run wild.
