I would like to thank our governor and legislative body for saving my wife $120-plus on taxes by going to Oklahoma and buying cigarettes and gas. Keep up the good work.

Wildfires are nature’s way of clear-cutting a forest, but the timber is a complete loss. Environmentalists have prevented logging in national forests for 40 years. Periodic and rotational logging, with replanting, limits forest fires and saves timber.

John Boehner, after the Republican loss over the Iran deal, looked like someone had squeezed all of the whiskey out of him.

Republicans state over and over that no one has read the Iran nuclear deal. Then en masse they claim it’s a bad deal. The Republicans don’t know, yet they know? Can’t be.

Since WSU does not play football, why not convert the old football stadium into a multilevel parking garage for the students to alleviate parking problems?

I see far more bicyclists riding on Douglas than on First or Second Street. Why disrupt the flow of traffic on those streets when cyclists aren’t using them?

After a lot of thought, I have determined the purpose of the new bike lane on West Second just west of McLean that goes for only two blocks before disappearing: It’s a runway for Mary Poppins. How silly of me.
