Opinion Line (Sept. 13)
I would like to thank our governor and legislative body for saving my wife $120-plus on taxes by going to Oklahoma and buying cigarettes and gas. Keep up the good work.
I would advise all golfers to refrain from playing golf with Gov. Sam Brownback, because you are guaranteed a bad lie every time.
Wildfires are nature’s way of clear-cutting a forest, but the timber is a complete loss. Environmentalists have prevented logging in national forests for 40 years. Periodic and rotational logging, with replanting, limits forest fires and saves timber.
John Boehner, after the Republican loss over the Iran deal, looked like someone had squeezed all of the whiskey out of him.
Republicans state over and over that no one has read the Iran nuclear deal. Then en masse they claim it’s a bad deal. The Republicans don’t know, yet they know? Can’t be.
In the 2008 and 2012 election cycles, Democrats argued that John McCain and Mitt Romney were too old. Check out the top three Democratic candidates this election cycle.
I trust Vladimir Putin more than I trust Hillary Clinton.
If Donald Trump were a Democrat, everyone would be screaming “no political experience” and “can’t buy the office.” Am I wrong?
I am like Kim Davis. I would much rather stand before an ungodly judge after having disobeyed an ungodly man-made law than to stand before the eternal judge after having disobeyed His Word.
Enough about gay marriage being an illegal or unconstitutional ruling by the Supreme Court. This is an easy one. See the 14th Amendment: equal protection under law. That means what’s fair for one group is fair for another.
Our uncommonly bad County Commissioner Richard Ranzau says there’s no such thing as the common good.
One wonders why KU fans are so quick to identify phallic symbols. They shouldn’t look at the Kansas skies on a cloudy day.
K-State vigorously protects Bill Snyder’s Powercat logo, but its band director sees no harm in violating the rights of other schools and the trademark/copyright rules when planning his halftime demonstrations.
Those who were offended by the K-State marching band “Star Trek” routine are only revealing what goes on inside their perverted, pea-sized brains. Bill Shatner is right. You deserve more respect than that, KSU. Call that law firm, right now.
Since WSU does not play football, why not convert the old football stadium into a multilevel parking garage for the students to alleviate parking problems?
I see far more bicyclists riding on Douglas than on First or Second Street. Why disrupt the flow of traffic on those streets when cyclists aren’t using them?
After a lot of thought, I have determined the purpose of the new bike lane on West Second just west of McLean that goes for only two blocks before disappearing: It’s a runway for Mary Poppins. How silly of me.
