Opinion Line (Oct. 31)

The Giants’ Madison Bumgarner is truly a great pitcher. But was it just my biased imagination, or did he seem to get the call every time the ball was anywhere near the strike zone? Whatever the case, Kansas City had a great season and postseason.

Am I the only one who got the impression listening to Joe Buck and the rest of the Fox broadcast team in Game 7 that Bumgarner was the only player on the field for the last five innings?

I am royally proud of the Royals.

That’s how you do it. WSU grad Joyce DiDonato hit the national anthem out of the park.

A definition of insanity: the city using the same economic development “tools” for decades, then saying it needs a tax increase to get another $80 million to do more of the same, promising that this next time it’ll finally work. Yeah, right.

Hey, have you heard about the new fund created by local billionaires to fix streets, find new water sources, upgrade mass transit and compete for jobs (rather than spending money on attack ads)? Yeah, I haven’t either.

Why would the City Council put a voting package together? I don’t like it when my representative or senator has to vote like that, and I don’t think I should be made to. It feels like a dirty trick.

Specific amounts for each sales tax item are identified on the ballot; it’s legal to include multiple items in one question. It states when the tax will end. Visitors shopping here will help pay. Voting “no” will increase water rates.

Coalition for a Better Wichita should stop telling me to vote “no” on the sales tax. I was going to vote “no,” but will be voting “yes” because of the daily volume of mail, phone calls and TV ads.

The Eagle editorial board endorses more Democrats and liberals than James Carville at a GLBT convention, and says we should vote to raise our taxes to fund unrelated projects that should be considered separately. The board probably feigns disgust at the thinly veiled bias of various cable news channels. Laughable.

What a surprise to see Sunday’s endorsements in The Eagle, as the editorial policy and reporting have been so prejudiced for months. What will be embarrassing for The Eagle is to wake up on Wednesday and see that 85 percent of the endorsements were losers.
