Opinion Line (Sept. 11)

Here’s a grand idea: How about universities everywhere react as strongly about actual sexual assault as they do about marching band shenanigans?


Kansas State band director Frank Tracz should have been fired by now. The halftime show was shameful.


How many more times will you K-State supporters defend and apologize for poor sportsmanship? Why are you so obsessed with KU that you used a Jayhawk when you didn’t even play them?


The K-State band did something stupid, the K-State administration handled it poorly, and K-State fans immediately go on social media and blame KU for the whole mess.


All larger cities have a city sales tax. We need better roads. We recently paid 9.3 percent sales tax in Colorado, which included a city tax. Johnson County has beautiful Overland Park, where sales tax is 8.85 percent. Let’s all help with a small tax increase.


When traveling abroad, it is difficult to find an area where someone does not speak English. Most countries recognize that English is the international language and require it to be taught. Yet in the USA we consider it racist to encourage that English be spoken. Dumb.


Dear Hillary: We accept your apology.


I wonder if the Democrats who support the Iran nuclear deal or the Republicans who aren’t stopping them realize they will burn just as quickly and completely as the rest of us when Iran, or someone else with Iran’s help, decides to attack us with nuclear weapons.


A law is still a law whether or not you believe in it.


There is supposed to be separation of church and state in this country. So why is the pope addressing Congress to tell us how to run our country? Who is next? The Chinese leader?


Too many politicians become slaves to their wealthy corporate donors. If the total amount that politicians could accept from their big donors was limited to no more than the amount received from individual constituents, we might end up with more balanced representatives.


Who is guilty of making e-mail addresses available to these advertisers? They are becoming a plague. We will not do business of any kind with them. We have the same policy in dealing with phone calls of any kind.


It is unbelievable how many people are whining about how expensive $2.07 gasoline is.


I am completely satisfied with the treatment I received from the VA system. The facility is as clean as any hospital. The staff is kind and efficient and apparently well-trained.
