Opinion Line (Sept. 6)
Once again, Kansas government does not care about fairness, only money. I pay my taxes on time. Kansas, which is desperate for money, is forgiving those who do not pay their taxes on time from any penalties or interest.
It’s not surprising that Kansas’ economic performance lags Midwest averages. Kansas is usually one of the last states to enter and exit recessions. Obama’s next-to-worst economic recovery makes it hard for Kansas’ economy to catch fire.
Gov. Sam Brownback won the 2014 election by 32,000 votes. Kris Kobach, our partisan secretary of state, held up 20,000 voter registrations and intimidated countless thousands of Kansas voters to stay away from the polls. Thanks to Kobach, I now believe in voter fraud.
Not one single Gitmo detainee should be transferred to Fort Leavenworth or South Carolina until Maj. Nidal Hasan is executed and Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is incarcerated there.
It’s sad that Donald Trump seems to be the candidate that we deserve.
Donald Trump caved. The author of “The Art of the Deal” got out-negotiated by Reince Priebus. Trump gave up his possible independent bid and got nothing for it. If he thinks he’d be tough with Vladimir Putin or the Chinese, he’s dreaming.
What a screwed-up country and society we have become when people are forced to violate their personal or religious beliefs and cater to a tiny percentage of the population because if they don’t they’ll be put in jail. We are more and more like Nazis all the time.
Freedom of religion doesn’t mean we can arbitrarily pick what laws we will obey and intentionally hurt others through our willfulness. That is not the teaching of our Savior Jesus Christ.
There’s a word for what happens when public officials pick and choose which laws they will follow: anarchy.
When the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the ALCU and other atheist organizations get through with their agenda, the country will go to hell in a handbasket.
Those wanting to remove all religion from government must remember that atheism, secular humanism, Darwinism and “gayism” are just as much religions as any other. Whatever controls your values and actions is your religion.
As a self-proclaimed grouchy old man, I could hardly wait for my first trip out of the new airport terminal so that I could do a lot of complaining. Was I ever disappointed. Nothing to find fault with.
I’m tired of the very vocal minority bashing County Commission Chairman Richard Ranzau. The majority of people, who voice their opinion by being proud to vote, elected him based on his pledge to do exactly what he is doing. Live with it, as in this country the majority rules.
The public should be outraged over the secretive selection of our new county manager. Vote the commissioners out of office in the next election, and let’s take back our county.
