Opinion Line (Sept. 4)
Wouldn’t it be interesting to have all of the presidential candidates go on “Jeopardy” to see how informed they are? It might thin out the ranks.
Donald Trump has to be a Democratic plant. He is taking on their political nemeses – Fox News and “fellow” Republicans – while not tongue-lashing people like Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.
If it gets any worse for Clinton she may be running her campaign from jail.
It sounds like the attendees at the public forum to hear the police chief candidates expected a group hug and pandering to their special-interest group. I hope the city manager keeps priorities in perspective and selects the candidate better equipped to actually enforce the law.
The hubbub over Terri Moses’ comment makes her point. Latino leaders – instead of asking themselves “Why are we difficult to interact with?” – get offended over a rather innocuous comment. Her reaction also illustrates why people like Trump. If he believes what he says, he doesn’t back down from criticism.
The forum was very one-sided. The crowd was obviously antagonistic and negative against Moses before she said anything. Everything she said was turned against her. Audience members had prejudged her.
Racial profiling is not the reason to select a new police chief. It is who knows our town and has the experience in this town to make us a good chief.
We want Terri Moses for police chief and wanted Michael Scholes for county manager. They are sound, solid, proven. We need people like them to give us the knowledge of security.
I am not sure that 30-plus years of military service provides enough combat experience to work with our county commissioners.
After reading County Commission Chairman Richard Ranzau’s comments to the Pachyderm Club, I realized I am a “completely disenfranchised” taxpayer in that I don’t want my tax dollars going to his salary. In keeping with his efforts to restore America’s core values, it would be proper to eliminate his salary.
Columnist Cal Thomas’ Sept. 2 headline of “More gun laws not answer to Virginia slaying” could easily be changed to “More guns not answer to Virginia slaying.”
Suzanne Perez Tobias’ Aug. 27 column on brain training was the funniest column I’ve seen in The Eagle since Bob Getz left. She offers grins and smiles pretty consistently, but she hit that one out of the park.
If Casey’s is “famous for pizza,” what are Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s famous for?
