Opinion Line (Sept. 3)

Remember when Christian court clerks cited religious objections and refused to process divorce papers? Nope, me neither.


The nuclear arms deal will most likely go forward because Obama now has the veto-proof number he needs. Like Obamacare, it will slip through the back door without consensus. The fate of the world rested in a few Democrats’ hands. They failed.


That was a pretty scary speech Obama made Tuesday on climate change. Too bad he can’t be trusted to tell us the truth on this subject.


Get rid of Jesus’ picture at Chanute and we can forget he existed. Take the Jefferson Davis statue off the campus in Texas and he’s lost to memory. Now we also forget Republicans by removing President McKinley’s name from the mountain in Alaska. What a week for the government.


The MTV Video Music Awards show was broadcast on several cable channels. This show was emceed by the perpetually nearly naked Miley Cyrus. Among the channels carrying the show was TV Land, the network that dropped “Dukes of Hazzard” in the name of decency.


God bless and protect our law enforcement officers. Give the families of slain officers comfort and strength.

Those who desire to not support Planned Parenthood need to pay higher taxes by checking a box to contribute additional funds via their paychecks and tax payments. These funds could go toward free birth control, sex education programs and funding to feed, shelter and clothe this country’s unwanted children.


The Republicans can’t even come to an agreement among their own on the debates. How will they get anything done if they can’t agree on the simple things?


Is there anyone Donald Trump doesn’t know?


Trump seems similar to Gen. George S. Patton, who was also a delusional and unpredictable loose cannon with few social manners. Let’s face it: Some things have easy answers, but most don’t.


Trump can be compared to Andrew Jackson. People thought Jackson was too outspoken, brash, defiant of the establishment, daring and arrogant. History records they grossly underestimated how fed up the people were with the career politicians and the condition of the country.


What’s happening to the GOP president-want-to-be pool is a good thing. They’re all getting a Trump rump thump.
