AFP sinks to new low with robber ad

It is bad enough that the Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity-Kansas sent out mailers repeating the falsehood that there is no plan for how to use the revenue from Wichita’s proposed sales tax increase. But an animated ad it’s been broadcasting portrays Wichita City Council members as robbers (complete with masks) taking money from little old ladies. The robbers are shown smiling and laughing while dumping the loot at City Hall. Is that really what AFP thinks of city officials? Will AFP also be condemning a tax increment finance district approved this summer in Garfield County, Okla., to help meet the water demands of a Koch Nitrogen plant? Locals refer to it as the “Koch TIF.” – Phillip Brownlee
