Opinion Line (Oct. 26)
Our free-spending city leaders pour money into all sorts of programs, consultants and unnecessary projects, and now they’re coming to the people asking for a sales tax to cover their backsides because of their lack of fiscal responsibility. I don’t think so. It’s time to replace city leaders.
The city of Wichita has it backward. We need to vote on pet projects like the Union Station remodel instead of basic government services that we already pay taxes for, such as water and streets.
I didn’t know how to vote on the sales tax issue. Then I noticed that all of the groups I disagreed with on other issues wanted a “no” vote. So “yes” it is.
Why would one of the biggest corporations in the world so vigorously battle an initiative that would enable its hometown to compete more effectively by offering incentives to prospective businesses when it has enjoyed the fruits of such incentives to grow and develop into a mega corporation?
Stand for the American family on Election Day. Vote for Pat Roberts, Sam Brownback and Mike Pompeo, and “no” on the tax increase.
Brownback abolished Kansas income tax for 191,000 business owners, but their employees still have to pay the tax. Lab rats of Kansas: Rise up and revolt against Dr. Brownback’s evil and unfair experiment.
I searched for a word to describe Brownback after the commercials attacking the character of Paul Davis. After seeing his attempt to link Davis to the Carr decision, I found the word – sleazeball. We deserve better than this. I guess you throw mud when you have nothing else.
Voters should see Brownback’s endorsement of the ouster of the two Kansas Supreme Court justices for what it is – a blatant political move so he can name two of his cronies to the court.
I predict that if Sam Brownback and Kris Kobach are re-elected, Brownback will run for president and Kobach will run for governor. That thought is more frightening than ISIS and Ebola combined.
Democrats must think minorities are too dumb to figure out how to get a photo ID to vote.
That a billionaire progressive like far-left Jonathan Soros (George’s son) hosted a fundraiser for Greg Orman tells me everything I need to know about the “independent” candidate for Senate. We need a senator who works for Kansas values, not the lefty loons.
“Obama! Obama! Obama! Reid! Reid! Reid!” There. I just wrote a new Brownback or Roberts ad.
So Roberts only attended 35 percent of Senate Agriculture Committee meetings. Do you know how many committees most senators are on, and how many meetings are scheduled? Watching C-SPAN shows the majority are held for grandstanding rather than productive work.
I’d rather have Harry Reid running the Senate than the Koch brothers.
What is it about baseball that causes the players to spit all the time?
The beautiful colors of the fall foliage are like a dog’s life. Too short.
