Opinion Line (Aug. 31)

You may have heard the term “military industrial complex,” but how about “entitlement industrial complex”?

Too bad our vets don’t get the same medical care as our prisoners. No waiting in line for treatment there.

Of course we need reasonable voter ID laws. With 11 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S., that should be obvious.

Beware – Kris Kobach is the Donald Trump of Kansas.

Donald Trump: I can build airplanes. However, I can’t build spaceships. You can build 95-story buildings, but you can’t reconstruct our government.

Would those who think the picture of Christ should have stayed in the Chanute school have argued to keep a picture of Muhammad, a Buddha or a Wiccan symbol? If one religion gets a display, all will insist on equal treatment. So it’s best to leave all religious symbols at home.

If public school teachers would dress professionally, it would give them and the important job they do more credibility and respect. Parochial schools have employee dress codes, as do most corporations.

If I crash an airplane, they won’t put me in charge of training new pilots. But here we have Sen. Ty Masterson, R-Andover, who filed bankruptcy related to a failed business, lecturing school districts on how to spend their money.
