Opinion Line (Aug. 29)
Since “fracking” began, the frequency of earthquakes in Kansas has jumped from five or fewer a year to 127 or more. Yet “experts” haven’t decided if fracking and saltwater injections are the cause. If I punch you in the nose and you get a nosebleed, would you not see the connection?
Oh, great – another lunatic shooting. Yet another round of idiotic “gun control” talk. The only people affected by “gun control” are the non-threats in the first place. Psychotic criminal murderers don’t comply with “gun control” constitutional violations. Neither should the rest of us.
We urge anyone so concerned with nonessentials such as the zoo, Exploration Place or other “attractions” to take off their everything-is-sunshine-and-roses blinders and take an honest look at Wichita. May we suggest slowly driving Broadway, because this city and its society are rotting.
Next time you are driving downtown at the intersections of Kellogg and Topeka, Broadway, Market and Main, take a close look at the traffic signals and street signs. Not a pretty sight to anyone entering downtown.
What a great opportunity for the Kansas Democrats in the next election. The Republicans passed the largest tax hike in state history and should pay for this in 2016. If only the Democratic Party can take advantage of this bizarre legislation and bring some normalcy to our state government.
President Obama’s executive-order and veto counts are lower than for many past presidents, but people on the right claim he’s an out-of-control dictator. What is it really about him that makes him different from the rest?
The media know who the beatable Republican candidates are. They successfully advocated for John McCain and Mitt Romney through the primaries, then blitzkrieged their general election candidacies. That is why the media are heavily promoting Donald Trump now.
All of the groups speaking out about religious items like the picture of Jesus in a Chanute school have no problem spending our currency with “In God We Trust” printed on each bill.
Surely the people of the small southeast Kansas town of Chanute can’t all be ignorant of the Constitution. They did go to school, didn’t they?
I cringe when the attorneys advertise the thousands they got for their clients, because I know everyone’s insurance rates will go up because of this. Why would they be proud of this?
I think it’s funny you can walk into a brand-new $30 million building and see a door propped open with a sliver of wood from a 2-by-4.
As one gets older, forgetfulness has its benefits. Getting out of your chair and checking to see if you locked the outside doors four or five times a night is good exercise.
