Some say gasoline prices have fallen because the Saudis have increased production to maintain market share. I propose a tariff on imported oil. Take the revenue to fund renewable energy and promote domestic oil and gas production. Being energy independent will make a safer and more prosperous nation.

If gas prices stay down for some time and the post office cannot turn a profit In the next two quarters, there should be an immediate 10 percent pay cut starting at the top. If not, then privatization should be the next step.

The U.S. Postal Service is not doomed because of e-mail but because it now frequently costs more to mail a package than the cost of the contents in that package.

Has everyone forgotten that Greg Orman tried to run in 2008 as a Democrat before bowing out? He is just trying to sneak in this time.

A lifelong Republican, I was totally turned off by Pat Roberts’ comments during the recent debate when asked to say something positive about Orman. They were petty and disappointing, bringing into question his character. I think he just lost my vote.

Just as we no longer hear people admitting they voted for Obama, you don’t see many yard signs or bumper stickers supporting Greg Orman.

I had a call from the Roberts re-election committee telling me Orman was in New York during the re-election fight – like he should be here all the time. They didn’t ever mention that Roberts doesn’t even live here.

Most people who sling mud at Sarah Palin could not even stand in her shadow.

The firearms manufacturers and gun dealers must be smiling. The NRA has begun its scare tactics leading up to the elections. That means all the believers will once again rush to buy more assault rifles before the imagined crackdown by the forces of evil. Are Kansans really that gullible?

I wish I could tell “Becky” from Topeka that I received less money in my state income tax refund under “Sam.” I don’t see where “Sam” has done anything for me.

I’m pretty sure it was “Sam” who told “Becky” that if she writes $1,500 twice it would count as a $3,000 check.

Pathetic little Becky has well-developed selective hearing. She “heard” Paul Davis’ tax voting record well enough to recite it in detail, but apparently she hasn’t “heard” anything at all about the mess Sam Brownback has created with his misguided tax cuts and his failed “experiment.”

The geeky chemistry teacher barking like a sideshow carny for Paul Davis doesn’t get it for me, and shouldn’t for you either. I would think that a teacher would spend more time in the classroom, and less in partisan politics.
