Intrust Bank Arena has not been able to produce the number or type of shows people want, so now the county may put $200,000 more into the pot to not be able to produce the number or type of shows people want. “Lipstick on a pig” comes to mind.
Opening Intrust Bank Arena for Friday’s free World Series watch party was unexpected and the right thing to do on many levels.
Wichita attempting to diversify the economy with jobs out of the aviation sector is a great idea. But getting a company or group of companies with as much to offer as Boeing did will be a stretch.
It’s abhorrent that Wichita citizens are being threatened with extremely higher water bills and a no-fix scenario if the sales tax bill doesn’t pass. If the bill were simply rewritten to fix the water and transit problems, it would pass in a heartbeat.
In Derby, we now have a great water park, a state-of-the-art library, plus three new parks in the future. All from “yes” on sales tax. Promises kept. Come on down.
Imagine all the money being spent on election mail fliers and media commercials instead being spent on whatever you feel is most needed in our world.
It was nice to see that Bob Dole supports Gov. Sam Brownback (Oct. 19 Opinion). However, Dole doesn’t have to live in Kansas.
So I open my Sunday Eagle, and there’s my governor at a rally for inequality – not some political flack pandering to the worst in human nature, but my very own governor. Shame on him. He’s supposed to be everyone’s governor.
Wake up, moderate Republicans. Voting for a liberal extremist isn’t the answer to whatever problem you have with our conservative governor’s policies.
Greg Orman is about as “independent” and “nonpartisan” as I am. And I’m about as likely to flap my arms and fly to the moon as I am to vote for a left-wing Democrat.
I was saddened in 2012 at the realization I would never be able to vote for Barack Obama again. But this election cycle the GOP has set my spirits flying high by reminding me a vote against Pat Roberts is a vote for Obama.
On most every car I see driving around Wichita that features both an expired license plate and a political bumper sticker, the sticker is an Obama one.
