Opinion Line (Aug. 24)

Who hacked Ashley Madison? Given the large number of attorneys already getting involved, I believe that the American Bar Association hacked the cheater website.

First day of school, and the kids already seem smarter and better behaved.

Locally, statewide and nationwide our teachers have to personally buy tools and supplies for classes. It is unconscionable. Every school system and government entity involved needs to pay for supplies on a reimbursement basis to each teacher up to an agreed-upon dollar amount yearly.

Monsanto spent millions lobbying Congress to pass the food labeling bill. How much of that did it take to buy Rep. Mike Pompeo?

So “Pompeo wants every detail of Iran deal revealed” (Aug. 5 Now Consider This). I agree. Let’s go another step: Consumers want every detail revealed of how much Pompeo is getting from Monsanto and other agribusinesses to avoid requiring that all genetically modified foods be truthfully and clearly labeled.

If GMOs are safe, you shouldn’t mind labeling them.

In his negotiations with Iran, our president has shown himself to be a naive negotiator. He ignores those who are concerned about the billions of dollars freed up for terrorists, who worry that the inspection process is too porous. You don’t have to be an ideologue to be a disbeliever.

I am so sick of hearing “black lives matter.” All lives matter. Human and animal. If you’re black and you think that your life is the only one that matters, you are the racist.

Here is my vote for Leonard Pitts to continue with his excellent column. He is not against police, but is against their excessive force, bullying behavior and shooting of unarmed citizens. The one who really needs to go – the hateful, intolerant Cal Thomas and his sanctimonious column.

Pitts is the best columnist we have. I’m an old white woman and I know that what he writes increases peace among us. People must be able to see bias.

If you are southbound on Webb and want to turn east on Kellogg, be extremely cautious. The city gave Costco a dedicated entry that includes a left-turn only lane ignored by most drivers. This is especially dangerous when the Beech folks want to get home. Another fine mess.

When there is an accident on I-235 and traffic is down to one lane, the motorist assist truck needs to give tickets to all the drivers who rush to the front in the “closed” lane.

How can we expect our kids to use cellphones responsibly when the adults don’t?
