The conservative majority is picking this state apart piece by piece, and Wichita just had a big bite taken out of it.
I cannot believe Commissioner Jim Howell voted for a county budget he said he did not like, commenting, “It’s the best we can do.” No, commissioner, the best you could have done was the Norton-Unruh budget, and your vote would have passed it.
Instead of some of our City Council members bashing the county for cutting costs, why don’t they follow the county’s lead? They might actually find it leads to being fiscally responsible with the people’s money. I must be dreaming to expect so much.
Why weren’t the furnishings and most of the equipment from the old airport terminal used in the new one? Could it be that when someone else is paying for it, money is no object?
I will open a downtown grocery store as soon as I find 500 customers to pay me $25 a month. It makes no difference whether a customer buys $2 worth or $200. My fixed costs are the same. Westar Energy gets away with this. Are groceries less essential than electricity?
All along I thought it was the sun that was making my car hot. Now some are trying to tell me it’s carbon dioxide. The sun has been warming Earth for thousands of years. Want it to stop?
Science has yet to find a gay gene. People say no one chooses to be homosexual, so it must be innate. Whether it’s a choice or upbringing, God wouldn’t make homosexuals and then condemn their activities.
If our state legislators think they face “activist judges,” they should face the ones in Washington state. Maybe our Supreme Court should take a page from them.
The reason for The Eagle editorial board’s existence seems to be to dismiss or criticize anything not a part of the liberal Democrat talking points. If a leading Democrat, or one of the “disenfranchised,” robbed and beat Mother Teresa, the board would find some good in it or ignore it.
I was going to write legislators on my opinion. Then I realized that I couldn’t fix stupid.
Another trip to the Kansas Star Casino proved to me that the only place to play is with the American Indians in Oklahoma. When is the government going to get real and allow the tribe its casino in Park City and keep the money in Kansas? Oklahoma, here we come.
What the heck is going on with all the superhero movies? Another “Fantastic Four” movie? Are you kidding me? How many more “Spider-Man” or “Superman” reboots are we going to get?
