You know that embarrassing boss who everybody hopes won’t sit at their table at the company picnic? Well, he’s running for president.

I would love to see Donald Trump as president. Imagine the State of the Union speech: “We’re doing OK but need improvement. I’ll give you six months to fix it or you’re all fired.”

My disapproval of Trump has reached the same level as my disapproval of Hillary Clinton. Trump gives egomaniacs a bad name.

Fox News – unfair and unbalanced. Attack Trump, Rand Paul and Ben Carson. Throw up softballs to all the others so they can expound on their own virtues.

Two of the most important questions unasked of the candidates in the Republican debate: Where do you get your climate information? And what would you do to slow the upward redistribution of wealth in this country?

Obama was wrong about Syria and Egypt. Why should we trust his opinions about Iran?

Since the GOP is making war plans with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to oust the government in Tehran, why aren’t we being told what this will cost in American deaths, American wounded and American dollars?

The legacy of this president is going to be that he caused a bigger divide between the black and white communities.

The trouble with Republicans is that they’re all liberals.

When I think about essential government services, I don’t think the road or street in front of your house makes the list. As for fire protection, it is only essential that my neighborhood has a fire station. Has anyone noticed that “essential government services” is a relative term?

If you want tax money for nonessential items such as the zoo, Exploration Place, etc., we suggest you, your family, friends and neighbors pay the back taxes that are owed, which countywide total millions of dollars. Then the Sedgwick County commissioners will have money to throw away.

An observation from reading The Eagle’s Opinion page: Those who are in favor of the budget cuts tend to be motivated by self-interest, while those who are for #QuitTheCuts are interested in the welfare of others. If that offends you, take an honest look at your own motivations.

After being pressured by the federal government, Kansas has dropped the $25 limit a person can draw from his welfare account at an ATM. The feds must believe that because they have no restraints on their spending, welfare recipients should not have any limits either.

So, we have gotten rid of the $25 cap. Now let’s get rid of the mean-spirited legislators who voted for the cap.

The progressives have been in charge for decades and have proved to be miserable failures at actually helping the disadvantaged, and now are outraged that someone (Charles Koch) has another plan.

How about a bronze statue of a bat boy out in front of Lawrence-Dumont Stadium? It would honor Kaiser Carlile and all the bat boys who have served the sport of baseball over the years.
