To the family of Kaiser Carlile, the Liberal Bee Jays baseball family, and all who knew and loved that little guy, I offer my heartfelt sympathy. I hope that a permanent memorial of some kind will be displayed at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, along with the tributes to other NBC stars.
You have to wonder about a society that is so in love with guns but hates animal hunters.
A metal detector won’t save our military recruiters from shooters with guns when they have only staplers for protection. Thank goodness the armed public is protecting these military people since our well-protected commander in chief won’t arm them.
The International Olympic Committee ranks equal to the United Nations in intelligence. It chose Beijing for the Winter Olympics, and Beijing gets no snow.
Do you know the difference between a Democrat and a socialist? I don’t either.
A favorite quote of the Brownback crew is “putting money in the hands of the hardworking people.” How does a shrinking budget that defunds agencies, which employ people, honor that quote? Additionally, transfers from transportation budgets certainly affect those hardworking people.
Watching the county budget hearings reinforced to me just how many are lined up to get their hands on my tax dollars, and they get the support of the liberal press. I also was amazed by the number of for-profit companies that were lined up.
The brouhaha over County Commission Chairman Richard Ranzau’s remarks about Spirit AeroSystems proves that corporations want an educated workforce and will go where the best workers are.
Remember that Spirit is only as good as Boeing’s backlog.
The state, county and city did plenty for Boeing for 87 years and it still left town. This economy is still trying to recover, so cutting the WATC budget by $100,000 shouldn’t get anyone too excited, including Spirit. It can do its own training.
Bike lanes from Grove to Seneca – how ridiculous. Let’s mess up traffic for thousands so a handful can ride their bicycles downtown. Whose bright idea was this?
So Westar Energy wants to penalize people who have solar panels on their homes, yet when it gets really hot it spends a fortune on ridiculous radio ads telling people to conserve energy. Surely the KCC isn’t stupid enough to rubber-stamp that one.
When it comes to solar energy, Westar is on the wrong side of history. Solar is the future.
