Opinion Line Extra (Aug. 3)
If the American voter doesn’t wake up soon about billionaire tyranny, David and Charles Koch will in a few years become our true leaders.
They demanded to see Hillary Clinton’s private e-mails, but when it came to their own voting machines, it’s a hypocritical “no.” The saddest thing is that we have learned to expect this new normalcy.
If you imagine yourself the great white hunter, have yourself dropped off in the bush with only the clothes on your back. If you can scratch up some kind of weapon then hunt down and kill a lion, you have accomplished something. Anything less, I’m not impressed.
I laugh when I hear people say things like “NRA nuts.” The “nuts” are those who would disarm every American and leave them defenseless against not only criminals but an increasingly tyrannical monster of a federal government.
Gov. Sam Brownback’s a real piece of work. He’s all “lights, camera, action!” when he’s talking how his tax cuts will shoot adrenaline into Kansas, but he hides in some dark corner while his toadies have to explain millions of dollars in budget cuts.
Brownback mistakenly stated that Missouri teachers’ average salary is less that the average Kansas teachers’ salary. Obviously, they don’t teach math or research methods at governors’ school.
People can now come to Kansas to experience history for themselves and relive the times when open discrimination was not only acceptable, but was the law. And teachers were not highly paid.
I agree with County Commission Chairman Richard Ranzau’s comment. I also think if Spirit AeroSystems wants a training center, it should pay for it. Look what Boeing did to Wichita after all of our years of perks to it. WATC is pretty much an aircraft training facility.
Ranzau’s soapbox gets bigger the longer he is in office. Like many politicians, he (and several others on our commission) forget they were elected to represent the public, not their own agendas and egos.
Columnist Cal Thomas is right (July 29 Opinion). If humans are only the forward edge of the sludge of evolution, what does it matter if we buy and sell infant body parts?
If The Eagle editorial board is going to publish an editorial about Brownback’s facts on school funding being incorrect (July 29 Opinion), it should give equal time to all the lies and obfuscations of Barack Obama. Show Kansans that you report news and facts instead of providing liberals a place to hide.
While I was sitting under a shade tree contemplating my navel, a thought occurred to me: If I’m white and straight, why is my world so black and gay?
