Opinion Line (Oct. 18)

I would rather have a senator who has a residence in Virginia than a closet Democrat who has donated to and supported Obama and has a residence in his back pocket.

I was on the fence until Sen. Pat Roberts had to say something nice about Greg Orman in the debate. I was so inspired that the next day I voted early for Orman. Shame on Roberts for being so small that he can’t be a “civil” servant to a fellow Kansan.

Don’t believe Orman will vote for the “people.” The long-established powers in the Senate would soon show the freshman senator how the ship of government sails and who is at the helm.

Yes, Roberts has been around awhile. But Orman is not the answer. I refuse to vote, out of desperation, just to have someone new.

Another reason for women to vote against Roberts: He voted against the Paycheck Fairness Act.

Perhaps Obama should have named Lois Lerner as the new Ebola czar.

There seems to be a new symptom of Ebola that the medical profession has overlooked – the urgent need to travel.

With all the slashing of the Kansas budget to give the Kochs their big tax break, just how prepared is KDHE to deal with Ebola should some person bring it to our state? Do we have the resources left to manage quarantines and monitoring?

Those so-called moderate Republicans who are supporting Paul Davis? They are the third party that we got rid of – Democrats who were in our Statehouse dressed up as Republicans.

Amazing – Gov. Sam Brownback finds $101 million in “efficiency” savings right at election time. Good timing, would you say?

If you’re truly interested in helping BTK victim families, donate directly to them or a fund, and boycott any book or movie about the subject.

What bad economy? Did you see the packed baseball stands in Kansas City? How much were those tickets, even in the nosebleed section?

Woo-hoo! Thank you, Royals, for providing a bright, positive light for Kansans. Best wishes in the World Series quest.

I would like to see writers use the words “healthful” and “healthy” correctly. For example, poison ivy can be a very healthy plant, but it is definitely not healthful.

I know it’s for a worthy cause, but a 300-pound football player should not wear pink shoes.

Thank you to the police officer and other people who looked for and found my husband after he became lost at the drive-in. My kids and I were very worried. May God bless all of you.
