Opinion Line (July 31)

I applaud our current Sedgwick County Commission for pursuing a budget focused on core county services. We have had enough of the squandering of taxpayer money on a plethora of socialistic initiatives.

Maybe we need to spend some county dollars on a customer service course for County Commission Chairman Richard Ranzau. The way he treated the county’s largest taxpayer and our state’s largest employer was an embarrassment.

I give up. The Democrats are lying thieves who want to change absolutely everything about the greatest country on Earth, and the Republicans are as worthless as an indoor sundial.

In light of recent comments, if the GOP decides to adopt a party axiom may I suggest, “If it’s not worth exaggerating, it’s not worth saying.”

They say when two people live together long enough, they begin to resemble each other not only in looks but the way they act and talk. I believe that is what has happened with Hillary and Bill Clinton. Let’s just call them “Billary.”

How can Republicans who have opposed any deal with Iran now be allowed to sit in judgment of it? Some are even saying they trust Benjamin Netanyahu more than they do President Obama. If so, the Israeli leader has become our de facto leader.

Beth Clarkson has found unexplained irregularities in Wichita voting machines. News flash for our governor and secretary of state: As long as you keep those records sealed, more voters will wonder what you’ve got to hide. (And swaying the voters’ attention with investigations of abortions won’t change that.)

Let me understand: The proposed USD 259 budget will increase $101 million and the school board is still going to raise our taxes. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Why does a school district need a spokesperson? It seems to me that’s a job responsibility of the superintendent. Another example of money being wasted and not going into the classroom.

How does spending all the money and manpower on painting bicycle lanes, plus all the signs, help the streets that need repair?

For every mass shooting and innocent life lost, we can thank the NRA.

How can 35 seemingly reasonable women accuse Bill Cosby of sexual assault and nothing be happening? He should be in prison by now.

Small acts of kindness do not go unnoticed. I’m so grateful for the person who found my utility bill, and a big “thank you” to the Hobby Lobby employee who put a stamp on it and mailed it for me.
