Opinion Line (July 30)

Given the events of the past month, I guess we need to make sure our financial affairs are in order before venturing out to church, the shopping mall or a movie theater. Only in America.

The shooter in Lafayette, La., hated liberals, gays, government and the mainstream press. He sounds like our Legislature and Congress.

I am a pro-choice woman who urges others to stand up in opposition to some of the abhorrent practices by Planned Parenthood. I have standards, and it appears as though Planned Parenthood doesn’t.

Call it whatever eases your conscience, but a fetus is a baby.

Does Donald Trump realize the Hispanics he disparages are the same ones picking the food he eats and banging together the buildings he sells? Putting on a baseball cap and going to the border will not excuse his insulting remarks to them or to veterans.

As someone pointed out, Trump has done more in his lifetime than Obama. Obama only has the one marriage and hasn’t declared a single corporate bankruptcy, much less four. Trump obviously has the experience to run our country in a time of financial and spiritual crisis.

To the person wanting to know Obama’s lies: If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your health insurance plan, you can keep it. Obamacare will reduce premiums by $2,500 per year. The deal with Iran will prevent it from getting a nuclear bomb.

If you can’t pick out Obama’s lies, you are either an alien or don’t give a rip. He has a crooked angle for every word coming out of his mouth.

In Swahili “Barack” means “blessing,” which is certainly apt. He is definitely a blessing for our country.

Republicans are like having a control freak boyfriend.

I see Rep. Mike Pompeo thinks we are stupid and we don’t need labeling on food that contains genetically modified organisms. Several countries will not buy these products. I guess there are too many people living in the United States, and this is one way we can trim down the population.

Some may have health problems due to GMOs. How are they or doctors to know what to consider when labels aren’t required? Polling found most Americans support labeling of GMOs on food packages, but Mike Pompeo wants GMO content concealed from the public.

Hats off to Boston for ending its Olympics bid. We can hope that officials at every level of government will learn from this decision, and realize there are times when you just say “no.”
