Opinion Line (July 29)

I am outraged by the actions of the Sedgwick County Commission majority. Reneging on funding agreements and pulling back on shared commitments to “pay cash for roads and bridges”? I smell personal agendas and ideology. Get ready for the community blowback. It’s coming.

People don’t hate government. They hate government waste. But cutting waste is hard work. Instead of doing the hard work, some of the county commissioners prefer to go after valued public amenities that conflict with their personal radical ideologies. Voters need to stop buying these fools’ wonder elixir.

Is government supposed to show a profit these days? A governing body exists to provide for the needs of its citizens, with and by the consent of those citizens. The Sedgwick County Commission now seems driven by the ideology of three members rather than the needs or interests of the people.

I can’t believe anyone would suggest that the proposed county budget would harm the “uninsured.” The last I heard, everyone by law must now have health insurance.

It’s time for Gov. Sam Brownback to get his head out of the shale, and put a moratorium on fracking.

Which oil company do I send the repair bill for the new crack in my home’s brick wall? And, no, the foundation is not settling.

Perhaps Gov. Sam Brownback should step down from office awhile and learn math and basic truth-telling.

I think an audit of all voting machines should be standard procedure.

It was so nice of us taxpayers to pay for Obama’s personal trip to Kenya.

Having Donald Trump as the Republican presidential nominee would ensure four years of a Hillary Clinton presidency. Quit, Donald, quit.

President Obama isn’t coming for your guns, but Jeb Bush is coming for your Social Security and Medicare entitlements.

I would like to deeply thank the gentleman who assisted me with getting my elderly sister, who has dementia, into my van after her doctor appointment at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita.
