Opinion Line (July 28)

The unquantifiable factor in WSU’s expensive recruitment program is Kansas itself. Given years of justified, negative national publicity, we should feel grateful that even a few hundred young people opted to reside in the state best known for mean, stingy, extremist positions.

Wake up, seniors. Do you know who is trying to take over your Medicare? The person who is trying to balance the Kansas budget, your Gov. Sam Brownback. I can’t believe we let this get past us.

Would someone please explain why we should trust Kansas bureaucrats with handling Medicare premiums and claims when it has been shown they are inept in handling state finances? Take as long as you need.

I always thought the big, red balloon full of hot air known as the Republican Party would eventually pop loudly. I couldn’t be happier that instead it is going to be a slowly shriveling lump of nothing that falls quietly to the ground, unnoticed and insignificant.

Is it true that nine out of 10 scientists have concluded that global warming is caused by the hot air coming out of the 2016 presidential contenders?

You can pretty much blame the liberals and their political correctness for the whole mess we have in America today.

Donald Trump is supported by a lot of voters because he is a street fighter and will not be bullied. But he also has the class needed to deal with monarchs, presidents, ambassadors, etc., and has done so for years in his business.

Trump is about as truthful as his comb-over.

The South is taking down the Confederate flag because African-Americans and some whites feel it is racist. When are African-Americans going to stop singing rap songs because I consider them racist?

You may burn the flags, blow up monuments and paint over portraits, but that will not erase hate and may only add fuel to it. Hate is in the heart, and until you can learn how to touch that part of a person, sadly, you will not erase hate.

I don’t like the Wichita flag at all. It’s not inspiring. It’s garish. More important, it was a shameful act for the designer to have stolen the Zia sun symbol from New Mexico’s flag.

I just wondered if anyone else is as tired as I am of the airport ad. “It Changes Today” has been on there for way too long.

To the person or persons who stole my Blessed Virgin Mary statue out of my yard: You need it more than I do. Good luck in your life.
