Opinion Line (July 27)

Secretary of State Kris Kobach is looking for voter fraud. Why isn’t he being more open and cooperative with Beth Clarkson in checking the accuracy of voting machines? Surely in a GOP-controlled state, no hanky-panky was involved in the surprising outcome of races in the past election.

When will the astronauts be coming to Kansas to teach physics?

I don’t think Westar Energy really wants a 7.9 percent rate increase, but asking for much more than it needs will make it easier to get a larger increase. Westar understands how to work the system.

Marriage equality is when the husband and wife earn the same salary and each does half the chores.

If a baker sells a cake for a gay wedding without knowing it, what happens? Are they doomed for eternity? Do they get a pass? Does the world end? Or do they just feel sad for a few days until the check clears?

I suggest straight people turn gay for a month or even just a week. You know – to give gays hope that they can change orientations, too. Being gay or straight isn’t a choice. But remaining ignorant is.
