Opinion Line (July 23)
If your car stalled or was damaged by being driven into deep water during the recent thunderstorms, don’t blame the rain or the flat terrain or the city’s drainage system. The fault lies with a loose nut holding the steering wheel.
Schools should require driver’s ed classes, so future drivers would know to use their turn signals.
My dad once told me when you’re ready to jump out with your car into traffic, taking chances, instead just wait a few seconds and there’s always an opening. He was right.
If a team has four equal quarterbacks, then it doesn’t have one great one. If a party has 20 candidates for president, then it doesn’t have one great one. It’s either Hillary Clinton or mediocrity.
All of the candidates except Donald Trump are bought and paid for by some group or individual. Since Trump doesn’t need their money, he can say what is on his mind. Could this be why the media attack every word he utters?
Just one morning I would like to open my newspaper and not have to read about another benevolent government function being defunded, unfunded or canceled. Will the last one out of Kansas please turn out the lights?
Someone remind Commission Chairman Richard Ranzau that he is an elected official and not the czar of Sedgwick County. He speaks of ideology when he is the poster boy of it.
Is it ignorance, low intelligence or some veiled agenda that makes some people whine about a necessary reduction in the county’s budget but say nothing about the city’s budget, which is much larger but the City Council does little to control or, better still, reduce?
Would somebody please explain why Sedgwick County has a full-time paid County Commission when the city of Wichita has a part-time paid City Council?
Has anyone asked the KCC if the rate hikes on residential solar will also affect those corporations with solar panels on their roofs? If not, then residential customers will essentially be supplementing corporate profit.
If hackers can gain access to your smartphone, your computer and now your car, why would anyone think it wouldn’t be easy to do the same with a voting machine? And why wouldn’t Kris Kobach, our happy warrior against voting fraud, want to know of that possibility?
After every religious program on television, stations run the disclaimer that the views expressed are not necessarily the views of the station. Yet they run smutty shows that include same-sex marriage, murder, couples shacking up, etc., and there’s no disclaimer.
