Opinion Line Extra (Oct. 16)

I don’t know which scares me more – the ghosts and ghouls of the upcoming Halloween or the candidates of the upcoming election.

Spare us from the constant barrage of negative Republican ads. Clearly, Republicans are desperate because they are running an ad every commercial break. I feel brainwashed, but my vote is not for sale.

Pat Roberts will have to leave the campaign trail if he is going to hand out candy at his house in Virginia. He will probably trick more than treat, as he does when campaigning in Kansas.

Do we really need someone like Greg Orman in office? Barack Obama got in office because people felt him, with no regard for what he stood for and his lack of experience. Every day there is something with this administration. I trust Pat Roberts.

Obamacare can be repealed easily. This country has proved that a truly free market can take care of anything – especially better than anything crammed down our throats by government, and a fix that would result in fewer problems than the Obamcare website alone.

I can’t believe it. The governor of my home state of New Jersey stumping for the worst governor my adopted state of Kansas has ever had? Say it ain’t so, Chris Christie, say it ain’t so.

I just saw a Republicans for Davis sign. How ridiculous. No Republican in his right mind would vote like that. This guy is so liberal he makes the Democrats squeamish.

It is a good thing poor, pitiful Becky lives in Topeka so she doesn’t have to worry about the possibility of a Wichita sales tax increase. Of course, she could go to Augusta and buy her new car with all of the money she saved on her income taxes.

After reading “Lines of hungry pain charities” (Oct. 5 Eagle), how could anyone vote to increase sales tax? Think of the impact to those who already can’t make ends meet. Surely our community can figure a better way to meet its needs without foisting further hardship on the most vulnerable.

Why is Go Wichita refusing to say how much it is paying a California consultant? Another big waste of tax dollars. I will not vote for any sales tax increase. City budgets are compiled annually for a reason and should be followed.

The city of Andover is also proposing an increase of 1 percent in the sales tax. This tax will never expire. The main purpose of the increase is to reduce property taxes. This will benefit the high-income residents and penalize the low-income residents. More tax cuts for the wealthy and more tax load on the poor.
