Opinion Line (Oct. 16)
Cities around Wichita seem to have no problem passing increases in sales tax. Why is there so much money being spent to get a “no” vote in Wichita?
I experienced my first debate on the proposed sales tax increase and was offended by some of the things said by the “no” side. The “no” side has no plan and is simply throwing stones about things that are obviously too complicated for people to understand. I’ll be voting “yes.”
Anyone who would vote himself a tax increase is stupid.
When the sales tax increase is voted down because of the $80 million handout to big businesses, will the City Council be smart enough to place the other three items back on the ballot to be voted on as they should have been originally?
It appears the further behind candidates get in the polls, the more mud they sling at their opponents. A sign of desperation?
Politicians should tell us what they support and oppose, and their plans. Saying “I’m good, my opponent’s bad, vote for me” is of no help.
If Kansas education ranks so highly, why is Gov. Sam Brownback bashing teachers and eliminating their rights? I plan to help remove his tenure. He is struggling at his job far more than any of the teachers I know.
If I was undecided about my vote for governor, the mail made my decision firm. Brownback’s dirty workers sent me a large piece of work, in lovely color, about Paul Davis and his awful, horrible, very bad day at a strip joint. I will vote for Davis.
My wife, an RN, now works 30 hours per week so her employer doesn’t have to offer health insurance. We now pay 35 percent of her net take-home pay for it. My renewal for next year has gone up 19.5 percent. I will now vote Republican until my last breath.
Jerry Moran for president in 2016.
Seattle has trash police. California says you can’t have plastic bags. New York tells you what you can’t eat or drink. Coloradans are allowed to impair themselves into oblivion. Kansas is allowing a Democrat to run for Senate through the back door. Are you paying attention?
Why is it the police enforce a noise ordinance around an abortion clinic during the daytime but I can hear the music from YaYa’s at Bradley Fair on Friday and Saturday nights two miles away?
