Why is the state issuing tax credits while raising taxes for everyone else? And with Westar Energy’s rate increase request, give us a break. Tax rebellion, anyone?

No one since the goat gland doctor, John Richard Brinkley, who ran for governor in 1930, has brought more scorn and derision down on our state than Brownback. At least Kansans in 1930 had sense enough not to elect that charlatan.

After watching ol’ John “Swift Boat” Kerry on the Sunday news shows, I couldn’t decide whether he or Susan Rice had the most credibility.

People have such short memories in that it was Bill Clinton who sent all our manufacturing jobs overseas in his “global” initiative. In 30 years we’ll be as poor as many other “global” countries.

A letter writer who said the president “will hand his successor a world in chaos” has confused Barack Obama with his predecessor George W. Bush, who left Obama an economy in shambles and a nation mired in not one but two unnecessary and protracted wars.

The media are always abuzz as to what Obama’s legacy will be. Let’s see – Obamacare, scandals, Benghazi, IRS, a crooked Justice Department, letting illegal immigrants run rampant, and now a dangerous treaty with Iran, plus many other problems. His legacy will be: “How I destroyed America in eight easy years.”

Donald Trump speaks of himself as if he’s talking about someone else. That’s a warning sign.

So, Trump trashes John McCain’s hero status and war record. Want to see Trump’s entire war record? Here it is:

Trump is like John Wayne – rough and tough, and doesn’t take crap off of anybody.

Of all the superlatives defining Trump’s ego, I believe “hugest” would be the most descriptive.

Why doesn’t the military accept overweight people? It sounds like weight discrimination to me. After all, the military is caving in on other groups.

Senators and congressmen should have to wear labels like NASCAR drivers so we would know who owns them.

To suggest that our country is headed in the direction of Greece due to socialism is absolute ignorance.

When a person crosses the borders of the United States illegally, he is an illegal and not a “second-class citizen.”

Abortion is the holocaust of our time. They really are babies, not choices.

If people would stay at home and off the streets at 2:30 and 3 a.m., maybe they would not get shot. What are they doing out there anyway?

We hope the person who took our American flag from the bracket in Riverside on July 3 is enjoying it and not destroying it.
