Opinion Line (July 21)

Donald Trump for president. “Tell it like it is” should be all politicians’ philosophy. They should not hide behind financial supporters.

I can’t imagine this country electing a president who had five draft deferments and who berates those who served and sacrificed for their country. As a veteran, I certainly will not demean my voting rights.

Trump is pretty much every rich man I know.

Trump suffers from an embarrassing condition: He can say something accurate and intelligent, followed immediately by something that makes no sense whatsoever.

The Republican branches of government are Reagan, the Bible and the Koch brothers.

Gee – I am shocked that Republicans are upset with our president for the Iran deal. If he said we should all breathe, they would say “no!”

I’d rather go to war again than make any deal with Iran.

If the president would park Air Force One and stay in Washington, D.C., and work, he would be home to bond with his girls every day. What dad takes his girls and their friends to New York to bond? He just wants constant attention.

Give me, a teacher of 40 years, one to five kids in my classroom from “stable” environments and they could outscore anyone, too. How would an untrained home-school teacher do with 33 kids with diverse learning styles who are from disparate environments?

A bunch of college hours in education doesn’t necessarily make a good teacher. Knowledge of a subject, good rapport with students and the ability to maintain discipline aren’t learned in education classes, which are generally worthless.

It looks like Gov. Sam Brownback was right about it breaking the budget if we went with the Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act. Thank you, governor.

To the sheep of Kansas: After Westar Energy’s huge rate hike, how much of that supposedly good tax cut you got from Brownback will be left over?

How many more will die before the K-254 speed limit is lowered to 60 mph? What a poor design. Do it now.

How low some people have sunk to willingly, knowingly go out of their way to see the lowlife Pete Rose and, even lower than that, to pay money to meet him in person and get his worthless autograph.

I saw a couple at Wendy’s with their heads bowed over their food. I thought that it was nice, then I noticed later they still had their heads bowed. I thought they must be devout to pray that long. Then I saw each had a cellphone on the table.
