Opinion Line Extra (July 15)

If corporations aren’t allowed to make political campaign contributions, then labor unions shouldn’t be allowed to make them. There’s no appreciable difference between the two.

Donald Trump is right. Now a family mourns a young woman in San Francisco killed by an illegal immigrant who should have been removed by our sorry government and wasn’t. Pray it’s not your daughter next time. There will be a next time.

All presidents and all representatives since the birth of the nation bear responsibility for Mexicans crossing the border illegally. Yes, it’s been going on that long. They all talk the talk, but with no results.

Maggie Gyllenhaal being considered too old at 37 for a 55-year-old man reminds me of a line in “The First Wives Club.” Goldie Hawn plays an actress who says, “There are only three ages for women in Hollywood: babe, district attorney and ‘Driving Miss Daisy.’”

We were sick of cable prices. We joined some friends in ordering antennas off the Internet and now have free TV. We get the local stations and all the old shows of the ’70s and before – Carol Burnett, “Columbo,” “Rockford Files,” “Quincy,” old Westerns and many others. Hardly a commercial.

Word to the wise: When you install the new Cox “mini boxes,” your $200 TV remote will be worthless.
