Opinion Line (July 15)

It took 9 1/2 years and 3 billion miles for a spacecraft from Earth to reach Pluto. It should be obvious from the distances and time it takes to reach the outer limits of our own solar system that we need to take better care of our home planet.


Obama’s deal with Iran is a deal with the devil. Congress must reject it and override his veto.


Neville Chamberlain, where are you? You surely could have worked out a better Iran deal than what was just forced on us.

After listening to Kansas school administrators complain for the past six months about funding for their poor schools, I find their consternation about teacher retirements and inability to find new teachers to be amusing.


Have you drug-tested your state legislators lately? Maybe it’s time we did. They are state employees, too.

The BTK graffiti downtown offends me, but then all graffiti is offensive.


To the middle-age man we saw illegally dumping used carpeting in Boston Park: You should know better.


Congratulations to our own KU for successfully claiming the gold for the USA at the World University Games over Germany. What a game.
