Opinion Line Extra (July 13)
It’s simple: Wichita Veterans Memorial Park is to honor people who fought to defend this country; Confederates fought to split it apart. Keep the Confederate battle flag down. It’s totally inappropriate to have it there.
I haven’t ever watched much of “The Dukes of Hazzard,” but I’ll also never watch the TV Land network again. That decision was absolutely absurd.
Why is it that when condemning Islamist terrorists we are told by others, from the White House on down, not to judge all Muslims by just a few radicals, but when a few radical crazies shoot and murder several innocent people, those same people judge all gun owners by just those few?
For those who insist on picking and choosing verses out of the Bible with which to hit gays over the head: Try obeying everything the book of Leviticus has to say for a week or two, and then meditate a bit on Matthew 19:11-12 and Isaiah 56:4-5.
Don’t you think that if the Founding Fathers had really wanted to create a Christian-only nation they would have erected all kinds of Christian statuary, including the Ten Commandments, when they built Washington, D.C.? Thanks to the Oklahoma Supreme Court for respecting their wishes and wisdom.
Scores of African-American youths stormed, vandalized and looted a store in Macon, Ga. I guess this was either due to white privilege or “Bush’s fault.”
Surely businesses will relocate to Kansas once they find out that the state is a mecca for religious rights. What’s not to like about having employees who can legally refuse to do their jobs because of “sincerely held religious beliefs”?
When will the progressives who run The Eagle come to the rational realization, supported by common sense and empirical data, that the economic course set out by their “spend on everything, all the time” agenda has no chance of success? We are quickly circling the drain that leads to economic collapse.
If someone thinks he is going to be a savior because he carries a gun, then he is a fool, and fools should not carry guns.
The ad says that the new airport represents Midwest values. Just exactly what values do we have when they build something that looks like it’s made from parts of a crashed airplane?
I have a choice whether to visit a Kansas casino and spend money, unlike the Kansas sales tax increase since Brownback came into office that I’m forced to pay.
Well, five years since the smoking ban took effect and, contrary to what the future cancer patients claimed would happen, there are more restaurants and bars in business than there were five years ago.
It’s almost as though check-out clerks are trying to provoke a nasty argument.
