Wichita State University’s $1 million grant from U.S. Economic Development Administration is a big boost for WSU’s innovation campus, helping fund an access road and parking related to the new Experiential Engineering Building. Last fall WSU won a $1.9 million EDA grant for advanced manufacturing. It’s notable that the member of Congress whose district includes WSU, Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, sponsored the Economic Development Administration Elimination Act. Pompeo has called the EDA “one of our nation’s largest wealth redistribution programs” and complained that it spends “taxpayer dollars on failed attempts to create jobs through a Washington-knows-best mindset.” – Rhonda Holman
