Opinion Line (July 11)

President Obama is trying to operate a five-star gift program on a two-star economy.


John Adams said: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” Does the Supreme Court subconsciously think we’re not so moral nor so religious anymore to the extent that its decisions no longer need to be constitutionally based?


If you’re paying attention, you can see that Obama is trying to get both feet in the door for a one-world government by using “climate change” and “trade” to do it.


Who will save Kansans from our activist governor? Is it somehow better to legislate from an executive office than through a court or a legislature?


The “gospel according to Sam” just doesn’t have the same ring to it as it does for Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, and yet he keeps trying.


How long will it be before Kansas Republicans blame Obama for their own incompetence?


I remember Kris Kristofferson singing, “Everybody’s gotta have somebody to look down on.” What with Fox News, Donald Trump, our Kansas leaders and the anti-gay folks, our needs are being well-met.


So do the Six Flags theme parks in Texas, Georgia and Missouri have to change their name to Five Flags?


The victim didn’t deserve it, but the city of San Francisco did. Officials voted to become a sanctuary city, which basically means that illegal alien criminals are invited to gun down the citizens of San Francisco.


The Second Amendment has never been about guns. It has always been about your individual right of defending yourself and your family. The time is near that we will all need to exercise this right.


As a citizen of Wichita and Sedgwick County, I pay taxes for many things that benefit only the people who live outside the city limits. Splitting the zoning appeals board is just one more example.


All Wichitans and surrounding areas fed up with weeklong selling and shooting off of fireworks: Bombard the city councils with your complaints. Suggest selling and celebrating be limited to Independence Day. Let’s change things for next year.


Thank you, Wichita Park and Recreation Department and sponsors. That was the most wonderful Independence Day celebration – an impressive show, the bands and the incredible fireworks.


Forget about Wichita being the Air Capital of the World. We can now be called the Tattoo Capital.
