Opinion Line Extra (July 9)

If you have hundreds of fireworks complaints and very few citations, what’s the use of a call-in line? Someone should sue the city for failing to enforce the laws. Make it a class action and you will have hundreds of people join.

Fire all the fireworks you want, but when the clock says 10 p.m. they must stop. Stop being rude and a nuisance.

People, if you have dogs and they are scared out of their wits hearing fireworks going off, take them in the house. It’s a no-brainer.

For anyone with a pit bull problem: You live in Kansas. You have the right to carry, the right to defend yourself and your family, and the right to stand your ground. You take it from there.

So I’m going to presume that Westar Energy is going to propose a huge rate decrease since the Supreme Court decision lets it off the hook on clean air from its coal plants, right?

Of course there is voter fraud in Kansas. That is the only possible way Kobach and Brownback could have gotten re-elected.

No, Social Security and Medicare are not government assistance. You paid for them.

What will our delegates in Washington say to their constituents who have finally been able to get health insurance coverage? How will they be helped if they lose their insurance? The GOP has no replacement plan in place.

I think it’s OK to proudly fly the Confederate flag – wait a minute. Weren’t they the ones who enslaved humans? And didn’t they assassinate Abraham Lincoln, our greatest president? Have they ever really apologized for any of this? There’s nothing connected with that flag to be proud of.

Southern politicians aren’t showing courage by calling for the removal of the Confederate battle flag. Quite the opposite. I believe it’s called “pandering” or, more to the point, gutlessness.
