Opinion Line (July 8)

This is a Republican state. Why do taxes keep going up?

I wonder how much money you have to contribute to Republicans to get a tax break.

I subscribe to a small newspaper in Colorado. An article this week said the state had cut educational school funding five of the past six years. It can only be Brownback to blame.

Remember that verse in the Kansas state song – “Where seldom is heard a discouraging word, and the skies are not cloudy all day”? Well, that was before Brownback.

Nine killed, 46 injured in Chicago over the weekend. The vast majority were black-on-black crimes. Where is Al Sharpton now?

Upon completion of the new advanced learning center, with any luck at all we hope our city fathers will learn how to repair our city streets.

While USD 259 opted out of the federal free-meals program for the wrong reason, the end result was the correct one, because when you make a deal with the devil you lose every time.

The most tolerant people from the 1960s, the “do your own thing” crowd, are the most intolerant people today. They invented political correctness, and they demand conformity of thought, too.

How is it that displaying a Nazi flag, a Mexican flag, a rainbow flag or an ISIS flag is free speech, but displaying a Confederate flag is hate speech?

I would like all speed limit signs to be taken down, as they offend me. I would like the Opinion Line to be removed, as it also offends me.

Remember, if it weren’t for “activist” judges there would be no desegregation or interracial marriages, and we’d still have “separate but equal” and lack a number of other decisions that have made this country better. A judge is only an “activist” if he rules against your beliefs.

If the Bible says that homosexuality is against God’s law, then we’d best look at all who file for divorce, gamble, curse, cheat on taxes, fornicate, commit adultery and covet. Are we all really that righteous as a society?

Just because it’s law doesn’t mean it’s the truth. The truth sometimes hurts, but it’s the right path to take. Some folks just can’t handle the truth.

I love Donald Trump playing his best trump card on the presidential hopefuls. We don’t need politicians for president.

Trump on the stump has resulted in a well-deserved “Dump Trump” campaign by networks, businesses and most everyone else. When will conservatives get the message that Americans are fed up with their divisive hate speech?
