Opinion Line (July 4)

The Supreme Court’s two Obamacare decisions mark the final steps in the federal government’s transition into tyranny. The three branches of government now work in unison to empower government and against the governed.

So, the Supreme Court justices are doing a fine job when they equate corporations with citizens, or when they overrule the EPA, but they become “politicized” and “activist” when they legalize LGBT marriage and find Obamacare constitutional?

If you disagree with the justices’ decisions, the proper response is not to demonize them and call their decisions political. It is to work to amend the Constitution itself.

I reject the idea of removing the face of Alexander Hamilton from the $10 bill. He was the designer of our American financial and banking system at a most critical period. Redesign the bills to enhance appearance or security, but don’t change any of the faces.

Hamilton argued for the establishment of our Constitution. Now that it’s fashionable to dispense with the constitutional backstop on numerous recent court decisions, it’s only understandable that the anti-Constitution crowd would pull for Hamilton being removed from the $10 bill.

I suggest putting Obama’s picture on the $3 bill.

For a closet Muslim, our president does a credible job portraying a Baptist preacher and gospel singer.

I hear it now – people complaining about the fireworks noise for a few days. At least you are alive to enjoy your independence, which so few have nowadays around the world. Sit back and relax. It happens once a year.

I hope everyone buying fireworks remembers that they are doing nothing but helping fund the communist Chinese government. I don’t need to buy Chinese fireworks to feel patriotic.

Put the use of fireworks to a vote and they will be voted down. If it’s decided by a City Council meeting, every seller of fireworks will be there to support the sale of fireworks and no vote will be allowed. Put it to a vote.

Many thanks to the Bradley Fair merchants for an outstanding fireworks display Thursday. It was so good, even my 2-year-old granddaughter was cheering and clapping.

“Kids will be kids” because parents won’t be parents.

The next time you pass me when I’m making a left turn, with my blinker on, I’m simply going to make the legal turn, let you hit me and watch you die. When it’s harvest time, please pay attention to equipment on the move, or face the consequences.

Kindness still abounds in Wichita. To the young men who treated two older ladies to lunch at Tanya’s Soup Kitchen: We were very appreciative of the food, but especially of your kindness.
