Opinion Line Extra (Oct. 9)
An Eagle editorial stated that Wichitans are hungry and relying on charities to survive. On the front page, also on Wednesday, an article stated how the proposed tax increase would affect families. Increasing the sales tax will make it even harder to buy groceries. Kansas, stop taxing groceries and everyone benefits.
How long until suicidal terrorists travel to Liberia to contract the Ebola virus, then catch flights worldwide to kill thousands rather than a few with a bomb?
In short, the president said we owe it to West Africa to maintain travel capabilities to the U.S. I guess that means we owe it to West Africa to share their Ebola epidemic, too.
Gov. Sam Brownback’s defense of the gay marriage ban is another reason not to vote for this man.
Paul Davis’ complaining about Brownback’s “negative” ads is certainly the pot calling the kettle black. Unfortunately, it may work. Proven by the election of people like Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, there are a lot of low-intelligence, low-information people in this country.
Ever notice when Brownback is asked to respond to his lagging poll numbers, he consistently answers that the pollsters are in error and notorious for getting it wrong? Really? Every poll, every time? It sounds like someone needs a reality check.
Davis voted against “increasing” school funding because it also unfairly (and possibly illegally) stripped teachers of due-process rights, while failing to even address the unconstitutionally low level of base state aid.
When blaming Obama for everything bad, both Pat Roberts and Sam Brownback seem to want us to forget that they were in Washington long before Obama and are responsible for many of the things they blame on Obama. We can’t afford either of them.
Brownback may be the first governor to finally make Kansans finally realize that they need to vote in their own best interests, not the interests of the Republican Party. The two are not the same.
The difference: Pat Roberts made his money off of the taxpayers, and Greg Orman made his money from starting up a business.
The rest of the nation now sees the problems with electing Democrats. Please don’t let the “moderate” Republicans in Kansas fall for the line coming out of the Davis and Orman campaigns when the rest of the nation is finally waking up.
Orman is like Obama – smooth talker. And you never get any clear answers, just all good-sounding useless talk. Davis is the same.
Greg Orman may be a Democrat in disguise, and Pat Roberts’ recliner might make him a Kansan.
I have a gripe that rates up there with loud wind chimes and not using your blinkers. I get annoyed every time I have to rip one of those advertising stickers off my newspaper.
