Opinion Line Extra (July 1)

Just think how the Kansas economy would grow if Sam Brownback and Kris Kobach put as much zeal into attracting new business as they do keeping the rich from paying their fair share of taxes or finding those two guys who may have voted in two states.


Congratulations to Pope Francis, called “the most dangerous person on the planet” by a Fox News pundit. The same guy referred to Pope Francis as Marxist, apparently for reminding us that Jesus’ message was focused on helping poor children.


The Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative took money from foreign entities with the intention of providing political favors. The foundation wouldn’t need to exist, as anyone could contribute to charities directly rather than through the Clintons. Team Clinton is a subterfuge and does not deserve a third term.


The accused Charleston, S.C., murderer was seen with a Confederate flag, so it has to be removed from all public buildings. It’s a good thing he wasn’t seen holding an American flag, or I assume it also would have to be removed from all public buildings.


They don’t fly the Nazi swastika flag in Berlin and they shouldn’t fly the Confederate flag in South Carolina. The losing side of a war doesn’t get to fly its flag.


Why do liberals refer to George H.W. Bush as George W. Bush’s “daddy,” as if it’s an insult that he had a dad? Don’t liberals have daddies, too? Then again, I’ve long suspected liberals are hatched in some giant underground communist incubator.


If the Keystone XL pipeline is ever built, all of the crude oil will be refined to diesel, and much of that will go to China where its growing military will get the lion’s share. And who will the right-wing, pro-pipeline people blame for this? Obama, of course.


Bruce Jenner earned his fame by being the best all-around athlete in the world. By becoming Caitlyn Jenner, that fame is forfeited. Caitlyn has done nothing to deserve the title of celebrity. Until she has, she is nothing more than the rest of us and should be treated as such.


Trying to be a good Christian dad and being a good influence to your children might cost you everything nowadays. Your own spouse may even throw you out.


Handicap plates should only be given to people who use wheelchairs, walkers, etc. The rest of the people with such plates need to walk a few extra steps.


Does anyone else think that the Parks Chevrolet radio ad spokesman sounds just like Mr. Haney of the old “Green Acres” show?
