Opinion Line Extra (June 30)

Everybody wants to be married, just not often enough to the person they happen to be married to.

Although I’ve been a white male for the first 63 years of my life, I’ve decided I’ll spend the rest of my days as a black female. And it’s apparently OK with everyone that I do that. Amazing.

Is it starting to become clear to you now as to why racist white supremacists are so adamantly opposed to gun control?

So for generations we have worked on eliminating “the word,” and now the president legitimizes it. We now have to censor the president from our younger children and grandchildren.

Think of all the people it could help if the money spent for flowers to lay at the church in South Carolina had been donated to some organization instead. I guess “it’s the thought that counts,” but what a waste.

Are some people really so ignorant that they believe people are going to act, feel or believe any differently just because the Confederate flag goes away? I guess it’s the same twisted logic that makes some think without the Second Amendment, people will no longer be shot.

Companies never hire because of a tax cut or deregulation. They hire people when they need them, usually because business is booming. Most companies are sitting on large piles of money because there is nothing compelling to spend it on, due to lack of demand.

Inflation is a tax on goods like any other, and the sales tax is a tax on inflation. When the price of eggs doubled, the sales tax on eggs also doubled. With the Republicans’ add-on factored in, the sales tax on eggs will be 114 percent higher than a few months ago.

If the Wichita bus system continuously operates in the red and serves a smile percentage of the population, perhaps we should study whether we need one at all.

While any dog can become aggressive, pit bulls and rottweilers have the size and muscle mass to be dangerous. Also, they were bred as attack animals. They are the main reason I have a conceal-carry permit.

It’s time to end the civil service protections for federal employees. When those people mess up big time, they almost never get fired; they just get moved to another job.

I hear some Republican hopefuls talk of the system not being fair and the loss of the middle class. Are they now engaged in class warfare, which is what they decry Democrats for? Are the Republicans now the flip-floppers, just to get votes?

Who is the idiot who decided to put gas filler necks on the passenger side of vehicles? This ain’t Europe.
