Go Wichita should be more open about spending
Go Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau contends that it doesn’t have to release spending information – such as how much it is paying a California consulting firm to launch a marketing campaign for the city of Wichita – because it is not a public agency. That’s debatable. But that legal question wouldn’t matter if the city of Wichita made transparency a condition of groups that accept city funding (particularly if it is a majority of their funding). Go Wichita does good work promoting Wichita. It shouldn’t be afraid to be more open. – Phillip Brownlee
