Opinion Line (June 28)
The Supreme Court’s two Obamacare decisions prove that laws no longer mean anything. Laws can be rewritten at will by the court.
This is pretty much the story of George W. Bush’s presidency. He meant to appoint a staunch conservative as chief justice but instead appointed a flaming liberal who saved Obamacare twice. Way to go, George.
The Supreme Court got it right – again – on the Affordable Care Act. That’s why the Founding Fathers insisted on the three branches of government, because they knew politicians couldn’t agree on the laws even after they passed them.
Every tear shed by a Republican over the Obamacare decision gives an angel its wings.
June 26, 2015 – a day that will live in infamy forever.
Thanks to the Supreme Court, I’m another step closer to marrying my goldfish.
You don’t ignore God’s laws and create your own laws without creating a great mess.
OK, so gay marriage is legal everywhere now. In Kansas, you can still be fired, thrown out of your apartment, denied services or business, just because you’re gay. And that’s legal. They still have a long way to go.
Cut your paycheck in half, and see how well you fare in paying your bills. In effect, and writ large, that’s what Gov. Sam Brownback did to Kansas.
All Brownback had to do was have one of his lackeys say he would veto any legislation to rescind business tax loopholes. That’s all it took for GOP legislators to run away just like the Iraqi soldiers did, and let the tyrant have his way.
How many of those complaining about Brownback’s “failed” tax cuts would go back to paying an income tax rate of 6.45 percent instead of 4.6 percent? I would rather pay an extra 0.35 percent on money I spend than an extra 1.85 percent on everything I earn.
I am so tired of the hate.
Nobody uses the N-word unless he wants to increase racial divides. Isn’t that right, Mr. President?
For all these years, a flag has waved in Veterans Memorial Park representing the fighting and dying that men did for that flag. Right or wrong, it is our history. There are those who now would have us hide our heritage, our history.
If we pull down flags at Veterans Memorial Park just because we do not agree with the represented side of that particular battle, shouldn’t we start with the British Union Jack?
How can so many in the Republican Party support the Confederate battle flag while also claiming to have a monopoly on patriotism?
Apparently Will Rogers never met Donald Trump.
Please don’t leave your poor dogs outside with everyone shooting off fireworks before, during and after the Fourth.
