Opinion Line (June 25)
I saw a TV commercial for the new Eisenhower Airport. It said the airport was built with “Midwest values.” So the airport was built with clueless politicians, underfunded schools and drivers who never use their blinkers?
Gov. Sam Brownback’s experiment on how to tank an economy is working brilliantly.
All the time that liberals raise taxes, all you hear is how they consider it a privilege and a duty to just pay them. So anti-Brownback whiners need to just shut up and pay up. Oh, and get ready for extra joy in Wichita.
Despite obvious and proven evidence that trickle-down economics rarely, if ever, delivers as promised, the intellectually impoverished tea party governor and legislators would rather wreck the state, and martyr themselves to this lunacy, than have to admit that they’ve been wrong since the beginning.
My hat is off to the governor for having the guts to go against popular opinion and instead do what is right for the state. We see what happens when taxes are always raised and spending isn’t cut by looking at Washington, D.C.
If you receive government assistance you should not be able to vote, as it is truly a conflict of interest.
I find the flying of the Mexican flag more offensive than the flying of the Confederate flag. To me it represents the flouting of immigration laws.
Hillary Clinton and Madonna look alike and would be a good political team.
Clinton is promising to tax the rich and tax business. Where have we heard that before? Same tired old rhetoric, from a tired old politician.
If marijuana works as a painkiller, it should be prescribed by a physician for those it benefits and sold in a pharmacy like other drugs.
Do the overpaid Sedgwick County commissioners and Wichita City Council members get their pay docked when they miss meetings?
The city could do a lot to reduce the impending ozone problem if it would maintain and adjust the traffic lights.
I almost struck a person riding a dark bike and crossing a street – in all black clothing and hoodie. My headlights didn’t illuminate him at all. What was he doing out like that? Hiding? Wanting to be hurt?
Isn’t there a law to stop people from driving with their headlights and fog lights on all the time? Today’s headlight bulbs are bright enough without fog lights, too.
Now I am confused. I don’t know whether to go with the no!no! or the Yes!
