Opinion Line (Oct. 5)
As a lifelong Wichitan, I believe in investing in our future. Our water needs are a priority, and 63 percent of the sales tax monies will assure water for generations. The rest will be divided among transit, roads and jobs. Vote “yes.” it’s the right thing to do.
Please do not vote for the sales tax increase. I have a big family to feed, and it is bad enough to give them $7 for every $100 spent.
Vote “no.” The City Council members say some of the tax money could go to the WSU expansion. As politicians, they will not be honest with the taxpayer. This is your typical bait and switch. What else do they have in mind that we do not know about?
I’m soon to be retired but voting for the sales tax. Naysayers can whine about wasted money and “cronyism” in promoting business, but those publicly opposed don’t seem to have any track record of accomplishing much for the city. And out-of-towners’ spending here will help raise the money.
I am really, really tired of the lack of punishment for property and financial crimes. It will continue to increase until real punishment returns to our criminal justice system.
Saudi Arabia has been chopping heads off for years and whipping women and men in public for years. Why don’t we attack Saudi Arabia for its barbaric crimes? We don’t need its oil anymore. We produce enough oil that we are shipping it to Japan.
If President Obama thought that those people infected with Ebola would vote for the Democratic ticket, he would be flying them to America in droves.
People who think the aircraft industry in Wichita is failing because of a comment the president made must really think he is powerful. You might be interested to know that Obama signed the Small Airplane Revitalization Act last year.
Oh, “Becky” from Topeka, you look so sad. Have you been listening to Sarah McLachlan songs again? Your sadness has messed up your perspective. Gov. Sam Brownback refused to let the sales tax drop to the level we were promised. Go with the facts. You can’t afford “Sam” anymore.
The Kansas Legislature passed a bill increasing public school funding, but Paul Davis voted “no.” Davis is anti-education.
Memo to Brownback: The sun is shining in Kansas? Better tell Amazon, and Coffeyville.
Medicare members reading the 2015 guidebook should consider if they want the control of the program turned over to the state, as the governor and the Legislature propose, and vote accordingly.
Don’t let the Orman fleece be pulled over your eyes the same way Obama’s was.
I am beginning to think Kris Kobach is running out of windmills.
Isn’t it amazing how an election year seems to bring out the idiot in all of us?
