Opinion Line Extra (June 22)

It’s not a trickle-down theory. It’s a tinkle-down theory.

The governor blames the Democrats for the dysfunction in Topeka because they put forward no solutions to the problem? I believe they did propose the one and only solution to the problem – make everyone pay their fair share of taxes. Hello?

Gov. Sam Brownback has lost touch with the reality that 99 percent of Kansans live with every day. His term as governor can’t end soon enough.

Rachel Dolezal believes she is black and thus is black, according to MSNBC commentators, though she has no African heritage. What a great idea. Now my very white son can claim he is black and get affirmative action admission privileges to medical school. Is this a great country, or what?

After eight destructive years in office riddled with policies Jeb Bush endorsed, like the failed tax cuts that benefited millionaires, George W. Bush left us with the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression. We know what a Bush economy looks like, and we can’t afford another one.

The U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land. There is no legal way to circumvent it. Any “law” that says it can is, by default, unconstitutional. It’s disheartening that so many people, lawmakers included, don’t seem to understand that simple concept.

A letter writer said pit bull terriers were once “babysitter” dogs. Tell that to the Dallas dad whose 2-month-old was killed by the family’s pit bull while he watered his lawn. The point is not whether you love your dog. It’s what they are capable of when you’re not around.

While traveling through some cities on the West Coast, I noticed how nice it was to have synchronized traffic signals. Makes me wonder what century Wichita will have that.

The city of Wichita has no right whatsoever to give free rides on city buses when it is overwhelmingly taxpayer-supported and Wichita Transit, by all definitions, is broke.

Why is it that you can have 10 tire stores within a mile radius of 29th Street North and Arkansas? Most of these businesses are eyesores. I doubt the city would allow this if it were in a nicer neighborhood, so why is it allowed at all?

The post office is and has been in financially dire straits because it is top heavy in supervision, and has too many employees who add little value to the movement of the mail and some carriers who drag out their route to make it last eight hours.

The trouble with people is that they are too lazy to even look for something pleasing, preferring instead to demand things from others that only half-please.
