Opinion Line (June 20)
Shootings such as the latest in Charleston, S.C., are good reasons for flying our American flags upside down in distress.
Why is it that when the media offer a report on a shooting or other act of violence, the only time the race of those involved comes up is when the aggressor is white and the victim is not?
A white person allegedly shoots people at a black church and it’s automatically considered a “hate” crime. Obama’s plan to divide this country by race and other factors is certainly working.
The Democrats and Obama will pay to educate all the children of illegal immigrants if the Republicans and pro-lifers pay to raise all the children in foster care.
The president and his wife still continue to live it up large, at the expense of the taxpayer.
What happens in our city, county and state political arena has far more impact on our lives than anything Obama is doing. Kudos to The Eagle writers and cartoonist for keeping us so well-informed. We appreciate the good work.
What I like about The Eagle is that its reporters report facts that are attributed to their sources, so anyone can verify the information. They seek out and report information that reflects both sides. The reporting and editorials are kept separate, and clearly labeled as such.
I was going to complain to the people who like to vandalize the K-96 fishing lake with their trash. However, it occurred to me that’s how they act at home, they don’t care, and they probably can’t read anyway.
Motorcyclists have special privileges at stoplights they can’t activate. Apparently, those with three headlights are privileged to also operate all three on high beam – a discourteous practice, like bicyclists using gutters for a passing lane.
It is gratifying to see that the Icarus Randolph family has filed suit against the city. He was a Marine veteran suffering from PTSD. Maybe those two cops should consider another line of work. What happened to the term “peace officer”?
So Gov. Sam Brownback and his fellow stooges in the Legislature cut taxes for the chosen few, and the rest of us will be paying more taxes to pay for the mistake. Isn’t that what Democrats do?
The reason it is so easy for the governor and Legislature to belittle the poor and increase the sales tax is that the poor don’t provide campaign funds.
Is there a list of the names of the small businesses that are not required to pay taxes? If I am a patron, I would like to ask how many employees that tax break has allowed the business to hire.
