Opinion Line (June 19)

According to the governor, if I lost 25 pounds last year but gained 50 pounds this year, I have not had a weight increase. Well, back to the doughnut shop.

By Gov. Sam Brownback’s logic, if your boss cuts your pay that is not a pay cut if previously you got a raise.

If Brownback were Pinocchio, you would have to stand back 100 feet to talk to him face to face.

Conservative voters thought they had cleaned house in Topeka. Instead they discovered they elected the wrong kind of “conservative” politicians, the kind who raised taxes rather than reduced spending.

Now our Legislature wants us to believe that raising sales taxes will spur the economy. How does taking more money from the poorest do that? They will be forced to cut back, which will lessen business sales and reduce profits – and the economy will worsen.

Democrats want to take your money and give it to others if you are in the top one-third of wage earners. Think that’s not you? It takes you and your spouse earning just $65,000 to be in the top third of wage earners. You’re a target.

Why is Michelle Obama wasting our money traveling to Britain? Can’t she just call them to tell them what they can and can’t eat?

Does Jeb have a last name?

Donald Trump has announced that he is running for president. Good. He can start by firing Congress and getting some people in there who actually care about our country and not just getting re-elected.

I sat down in a fairly upscale Wichita restaurant and the server, a young woman, walked up and asked impatiently: “What?” I guess that was her version of: “Would you like a menu?” I almost got angry, until I realized she simply didn’t know any better. I’m too old for this world.
