My 87-year-old Native American grandfather made this comment regarding recent events in Topeka: “Only hookers and the Kansas Legislature are working hard at 4 a.m. And they are both doing the same thing.” Grandfather is a very wise man.
All of you die-hard, self-righteous Republicans must be proud. All of you Democrats should just continue to be ashamed.
To the “picking winners and losers” crowd: State Republicans pick – winners are 330,000 crony business owners; losers are the remaining 2.5 million Kansas citizens.
I’m glad I already closed my brick-and-mortar retail store near Wichita. With the new higher sales taxes, I never would have been able to compete with Internet sellers out of state. I’m losing less money just paying taxes on my empty building and retiring.
The Legislature should have imposed a tax on stupid voters in Kansas. My estimates say the state would have a $36 billion surplus.
I was surprised to read in The Eagle that the tax plan involves $10 million in “scholarships” to private schools. How can this be right? We cut funding to public schools and now fund private schools through tax credits?
So now our property taxes in USD 259 likely will go up because of school costs, including for more bilingual kids. Translation: We need more money because of all the illegal immigrants’ kids we let in our school system. I have an idea: Let Obama and all Democrats pay for them.
Jeb Bush’s support of border-crossing criminals means strike one, two, three and he’s out.
If all politicians are against deficits and high taxes, why do we have a very big deficit and high taxes?
Columnist Charles Krauthammer thinks all those GOP candidates may need a bouncer to keep order (June 13 Opinion). Wrong. They need Nurse Ratched.
Time was that we, as a country, tried to adhere to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s imperative that we judge people “by the content of their character.” Then why would we consider voting for Hillary Clinton?
If a person born with male genitalia can declare at some point that she is female, why shouldn’t a person born white be able to declare at some point that she is black? It doesn’t seem like an issue.
Want to escape the rudeness of the masses? Drive to southern Colorado through western Kansas. The isolation on the highways made for a very relaxing and refreshing journey.
