Opinion Line (June 14)

Sam Brownback tearfully pleading with the Legislature to pass the biggest tax increase in state history – priceless.

To those who voted for Brownback twice: I hope you enjoy paying, with local add-ons, the highest sales tax on food in the nation. If you think he’s done with the tax increases on the working class and poor, think again. I predict this huge increase will not fill the revenue void.

Don’t for one minute think this tax plan fiasco wasn’t a part of Brownback’s original plan all along. His Koch brother overlords hate government. Their intention has always been to starve it to death.

Governor, there’s a call on line 1. It’s Grover Norquist. You know that pledge you signed?

By bringing Kansas to the brink by not being willing to compromise, the Democrats have shown a total disregard for the voters of Kansas. They should resign and be boxed up and shipped to Colorado.

If you took six senior couples to solve the budget, they could do it in one day. They not only know how to budget, but they don’t spend money they don’t have.

If someone has started a petition to impeach Brownback, I would gladly sign it. This whole tax mess is entirely his doing.

To those who want to get rid of Brownback: Send him golfing with Obama.

Impeach Obama. Even Biden could do better.

If the Pentagon can’t keep its data safe, what makes you think that online banking is safe?

One is not mocking the poor when thinking that people who have become complacent with receiving various types of government assistance should be taking any work available. Of course, the Obama economy might be making finding work more difficult.

For many years, Liberty stood atop the Civil War memorial in front of the Old Sedgwick County Courthouse. Now all that is there is a shaft. Coincidence? I think not.

The great thing about the new Eisenhower Airport is that it is the fastest way out of Kansas.

Welcome to Wichita. Your plane lands and you enter our beautiful multimillion-dollar terminal, you pick up your car in the new garage, then get the fillings knocked out of your teeth on the potholed road to Kellogg and beyond.

Being a cop is harder each day with more criticism and scrutiny. I thank all the men and women in law enforcement. And a special shout-out to the Wichita Police Department, whose presence keeps me safe on a daily basis.

I would like to thank the Wichita Police Department and Riverfest security for a safe River Festival. We attended on six evenings and felt completely comfortable and safe. The officers were friendly while being professional.

It’s hilarious how Big Pharma TV ads tout the wonders of their drugs, then tell us all the ways the side effects can make you very sick or kill you.

I saw Music Theatre Wichita’s phenomenal production of “Aida.” Go see it.
