Opinion Line (June 12)
Gov. Sam Brownback and President Obama both seem to hate their Supreme Courts, but they both want to be supreme leaders. I prefer the judgment of seven (or nine) to the ideology of one.
Isn’t there some way to get rid of Brownback? The Republicans as a whole are a train wreck. If you’re not one of the 1 percent, the Republican Party is not your friend.
The Eagle said Argentina needs hospital clowns. I volunteer the Kansas Legislature.
We need new terminology for the despicable actions of the Kansas legislators: taxation by misrepresentation.
The moderate Republicans who knew how to compromise for the greater good have been eaten alive by their own party in Kansas, leaving me no choice but to vote Democrat or independent. But they don’t have enough numbers to stop the bleeding.
We can hope Kansas won’t follow Texas’ threat to secede from the union, because Kansas is too small to be a republic and too large to be an insane asylum.
Republicans are people whose parents ate hamburger so that they could eat steak but who give their kids hamburger, saying, “It was good enough for your grandparents.”
Voter fraud does not exist only in Kris Kobach’s mind. There are probably thousands of illegal immigrants voting. How else do you think Obama got elected two times?
A man recently executed in Texas murdered his victims 31 years ago. Countless frivolous appeals are why it costs so much to execute a murderer. Allow one appeal within two years, and then carry out the sentence.
The school channel on cable keeps advertising places where children eat for free. Why? Those who can’t afford to feed their own children obviously can’t afford a TV, the electricity to run it or cable. If they do have a TV, it needs to be sold to feed their children.
Grocery stores should just give away their food for free. They can just bill the government for the loss. That way everyone can filch all they want and Vision card moochers won’t be the only ones looting the store.
I don’t understand why I can drive around and see hundreds of housing code violations, but city workers can’t seem to find them. Some have been around for decades and are highly visible.
Wichitans would also like to see a Bed Bath & Beyond, Golden Corral, Hobby Lobby and other east- and west-side businesses move to the south end. Please do not turn the property at 47th Street South and I-135 into an industrial park.
